Article/Chapter Title: Acute respiratory failure in patients with hematologic and solid malignancies: Global approach
Abstract: Acute respiratory failure (ARF) is the principal cause for ICU admission and mortality in cancer patients. Early diagnosis and management of these patients entail unique challenges to the intensivist. This chapter reviews the common causes of ARF in cancer patients along with a global diagnostic and management approach. Oncologists and intensivists as a team must establish clear treatment goals for every cancer patient requiring mechanical ventilation. © Springer International Publishing AG 2018.
