Abstract: Linear detector arrays are conveniently driven by FPGA-based electronics and enable simple line-scanning confocal microscope configurations. Their responsivity and signal-to-noise ratio for reflectance line-scanning is comparable to that of standard APD detectors for pointscanning. © 2007 Optical Society of America.
