Title: A cancer patient with a bloody cough
Abstract: Hemoptysis, a condition presenting with varying degrees of severity, can be a result of a wide variety of conditions. Its comprehensive assessment requires evaluating patient stability, airway patency, and implementing an extensive diagnostic protocol. Critical to patient management is a broad differential diagnosis, accurate targeting of the identified etiology, and vigilant monitoring for signs of clinical deterioration. Although life-threatening manifestations necessitate multidisciplinary intervention, mild hemoptysis may be managed with only supportive measures. Nurse Practitioners can provide impactful care for hemoptysis patients and should expand their education on its presentation, causes, and management.(c) 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
