Article/Chapter Title: Preoperative planning for oncoplastic surgery
Abstract: Oncoplastic surgery (OP) represents such an evolution in breast cancer treatment. It allows better aesthetic-functional outcomes, broadening indications for breast-conserving treatment. Preoperative planning is the most important time in this kind of surgery. It implies in two fundamental aims: organization of surgical steps to follow in the theater and to reduce surgical risks. In OP planning is essential to anticipate the size and location of future glandular and skin defects and nipple and areola relations to them. Symmetry is the aim in breast reconstruction, and with a good preoperative planning, it is possible to achieve better oncological and reconstructive outcomes. Then, in this chapter OP planning for all techniques was discussed. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2013, 2019
