Article/Chapter Title: Preoperative and postoperative nursing considerations for the oncoplastic and reconstructive patient
Abstract: Reconstruction and oncoplastic options are available for women who undergo partial or complete mastectomy. The goal of these surgeries is to restore the appearance of a natural breast and for patients to regain a sense of physical and emotional wholeness. Patients undergoing these surgical procedures will require proper preoperative and postoperative education and nursing care to ensure positive outcomes. The role of the breast and plastic surgical nurse is to educate and advocate throughout the continuum of care. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2013, 2019
