Article/Chapter Title: Hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation for pediatric malignant brain tumors
Abstract: Historically, brain tumors in children were treated with neurosurgical resection and radiation therapy. The addition of chemotherapy to the treatment regimen has more recently been proven to be beneficial for many tumor types. However, certain brain tumors are still associated with a poor prognosis, and most patients with recurrent malignant brain tumors will die of their disease despite conventional retrieval strategies. © 2006 by Informa Healthcare USA, Inc.
