Article Title: Cytologic detection of amyloid in duodenal and ureteral brushings
Abstract: Two cases of amyloidosis diagnosed on cytology brush specimens are described. Gastrointestinal involvement in a patient with primary amyloidosis and renal involvement in a patient with multiple myeloma were diagnosed on duodenal and ureteral brush specimens, respectively. Familiarity with the staining characteristics of amyloid should increase it as a consideration in the differential diagnosis of certain specimen types.
