Article Title: Medullary thyroid carcinoma
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to review the current knowledge on medullary thyroid carcinoma. The classification, associations with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2, presentation, diagnosis, management, and prognosis of this tumor will be presented. Particular emphasis will be placed on diagnosis of patients through screening, and management of patients with persistent hypercalcitoninemia following appropriate neck operations. © 1992 by Williams and Wilkins.
