Abstract: Breast implant-associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that has been described in the context of reconstructive and aesthetic breast implant surgery. These articles present a consensus of the Spanish Society of Senology and Breast Disease (SESPM). In this first part, the aim is to unify the diagnostic criteria of this disease and describe its epidemiology and etiopathogenesis. © 2019
