Article/Chapter Title: | Chemotherapy of brainstem gliomas |
Abstract: | Brainstem gliomas represent approximately 10%-20% of pediatric brain tumors, and can affect children at all ages. Brainstem gliomas represent a spectrum of disease entities, ranging from low-grade tumors which may require only limited treatment and carry a favorable prognosis to high-grade tumors that are rapidly fatal despite aggressive multimodal therapy. In this chapter, we review the disease biology and current diagnostic as well as therapeutic approaches to young patients with brainstem gliomas. © 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. |
