Abstract: Patients with multiple, recurrent superficial bladder tumors who are treated successfully by transurethral resection and bacillus Calmette-Guerin therapy are at life-long risk for developing upper urinary tract tumors. This article describes the background of upper tract tumors as well as their mechanism and implications on treatment.
