Title: A Monte Carlo simulation of PET of a real patient with GATE
Conference Title: Fifth International Summer School on Nuclear Physics Methods and Accelerators in Biology and Medicine
Abstract: The objective of this work is to perform a Monte Carlo simulation with GATE software tool of a realistic numerical phantom of a real patient. Results from the simulation, in terms of simulated decays, recorded coincidences and simulation time, are presented. Output data are reconstructed using the Software for Tomographic Image Reconstruction (STIR) package. Two different STIR image reconstruction algorithms are used to perform the reconstruction - Filtered Back Projection/3DRP and Ordered Subset Maximum A Posteriori One-Step Late algorithms. Reconstructed images are also presented. © 2009 American Institute of Physics.
