Article/Chapter Title: An evidence-based approach to the management of Hodgkin's lymphoma
Abstract: Thomas Hodgkin reported the initial cases of this distinct malignant lymphoma in 1832. The term Hodgkin's disease (HD) was used because of the uncertainty as to whether this entity was a tumor or an infection. Based on the evidence proving that the Hodgkin Reed-Sternberg cell is a B cell, the term Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) is the correct term, although physicians are reluctant to change to this terminology © 2006 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
