Title: A novel frameless linac-based stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) technique – Clinical implementation
Conference Title: 2012 World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering
Abstract: Due to small targets and their anatomical locations, intracranial SRS demands stringent physical and clinical requirements for safe clinical implementation. These include stable patient immobilization, accurate target localization, and accurate dose delivery. Historically, the stable patient immobilization has been mainly achieved with invasive rigid head frames that don’t allow for hypo-fractionated treatments. Recently, we have commissioned a novel frameless stereotactic system specifically designed for intracranial SRS applications on a Varian Trilogy machine. In this paper, we present this new frameless SRS technique and our initial clinical experience.
