Title: Contextual framework for understanding treatment de-escalation in patients with breast cancer
Abstract: In the article that accompanies this editorial, Shah et al1 have nicely summarized current efforts at de-escalating breast cancer therapy for patients at the low end of the risk spectrum. These efforts are timely and carry the potential for significant improvements in patients' quality of life while preserving their high likelihood of being cured of breast cancer. We will succinctly reflect on some key developments in locoregional therapy that are likely to significant affect the landscape of breast cancer therapy in the coming decade.
