This is the first annual report of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Shanghai Chest Hospital. The Department of Thoracic Surgery at Shanghai Chest Hospital is one of the earliest departments to utilize standardized surgery treatment for thoracic cancer and is considered a key national clinical discipline in China. The Department of Thoracic Surgery at Shanghai Chest Hospital has been naturally evolving into several thoracic sub-specialties of expertise, including lung, esophagus, mediastinum, trachea, and transplantation. The volume of thoracic surgery cases has exceeded 10,000 operations and procedures since 2016.
