Article/Chapter Title: Breast imaging
Abstract: 18F-FDG PET/MRI is emerging as an exciting and promising imaging technique for breast cancer imaging, intensively stimulating research activities over the last years to assess its usefulness and define its clinical indications. In this chapter, the acquisition technique for breast and whole-body 18F-FDG PET/MRI is first described. Possible clinical applications of 18F-FDG PET/MRI, from breast cancer diagnosis and staging to tumor characterization and assessment/prediction of the response to treatment, are then illustrated and the most up-to-date studies are described. Future trends represented by radiomics and AI application are also discussed. Finally, the strengths and pitfalls of 18F-FDG PET/MRI are reported, with possible solutions to promote its use in the clinical routine © 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
