Article Title: Adult cancer pain: Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™
Abstract: In most patients, cancer pain can be successfully controlled with appropriate techniques and safe drugs. The overall approach to pain management encompassed in these guidelines is comprehensive. It is based on objective pain assessments, uses both pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic interventions, and requires ongoing reevaluation of the patient. The panel advises that cancer pain can be well controlled in most patients if the algorithms presented are systematically applied, carefully monitored, and tailored to the needs of the individual patient. © Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
