Article Title: Chemotherapy with curative potential in small cell carcinoma of the lung
Abstract: SCLC remains one of the most difficult diseases encountered by clinical oncologists. Rapid and impressive responses can only be translated into long-term survival in a very small number of patients with this malignancy. However, the use of combination chemotherapy has improved survival and the quality of life for the vast majority of patients with SCLC and efforts in the future must be directed to improve the nature of the response (more complete remissions) and its duration without producing unacceptable toxicity for the therapeutic benefit achieved.
