basic medical and epidemiological features of AIDS and other HIV [human immunodeficiency virus] disease will be briefly reviewed / primary psychological problems posed by AIDS and other HIV disease will be outlined / neuropsychological complications of the AIDs dementia complex (ADC), which may result from direct HIV brain infection, will be considered / hypochondriacal and/or phobic symptoms that are signs of excessive fear of AIDS in the "worried well" who do not have AIDS will be described major therapeutic interventions for these problems will be outlined / current recommendations for AIDS risk prevention in the forms of safer sexual practices and needle use precautions will be described (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved) |
