Article/Chapter Title: Neuroblastoma: Pathology and genetics
Abstract: Neuroblastoma (NB) is a developmental tumor that derives from sympathoadrenal precursors. It is a complex and heterogeneous disease, with marked variability based on age, stage and tumor biology at diagnosis. Understanding the molecular underpinnings of NB, as well as the role of the tumor microenvironment, has refined risk stratification for treatment decisions. In this article, we summarize the current body of knowledge pertaining to the molecular and immunologic features of this disease that drive new therapies that are changing the outlook for these patients. © 2019 Elsevier Inc.
