Electron microscopy can be of great value in resolving difficult diagnostic problems in oncology. This large text contains a comprehensive review of current knowledge of the ultrastructure and pathology of human tumors, based primarily on transmission electron microscopy. Intended for as a reference for oncologists and pathologists, it also contains clinicopathologic, cytogenetic, and immunohistochemical data useful in diagnosis. The first third of the text is taken by introductory and background material, especially discussions of the various cellular and extracellular structures and inclusions. The balance of the text presents detailed discussions of 103 groups of human neoplasms. Each section is heavily referenced and illustrated with numerous electron micrographs. Also included are a list of abbreviations and an index. |
