Article Title: Infections with rapidly growing mycobacteria in patients with cancer
Abstract: Rapidly growing mycobacteria (Mycobacterium fortuitum, Mycobacterium chelonae, and Mycobacterium abscessus) are soil and water organisms that cause a variety of human infections, including catheter-associated infections and severe disseminated infections with cutaneous manifestations in cancer patients. Antibiotic treatment-typically, with agents not used to treat tuberculosis-should be guided by identification and antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolate.
