Article Title: Magnetic resonance imaging-based salvage brachytherapy: Moving toward a focal paradigm
Abstract: Brachytherapy is an ideal treatment approach for radiorecurrent prostate cancer given the highly conformal treatment. Increasingly, multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging is being utilized to enhance our ability to assess intraprostatic tumor characteristics. This article aims to review the current literature on whole gland salvage brachytherapy for radiorecurrent prostate cancer as well as the methodology and progress towards a focal approach to salvage brachytherapy. Particular emphasis is placed on the potential role of multiparametric MRI in achieving optimal outcomes with focal salvage brachytherapy. © 2017 American Brachytherapy Society
