Abstract: |
Ovarian cancer is the most deadly gynecologic malignancy. It continues to be elusive to diagnosis because its initial presentation can mimic common medical conditions. Primary care clinicians, and those working in women's health, need to be aware of the subtle signs associated with ovarian cancer. Identifying these early on can improve outcomes; early diagnosis and treatment leads to greater survival rates. There continues to be efforts to improved treatment. However, currently there is no effective screening method to detect early stage disease. This article aims to educate the clinician about symptoms, appropriate workup, referral, diagnosis, and treatment of ovarian cancer. © 2016 Elsevier Inc. |
