Article Title: Progression of T1 bladder tumors: Better staging or better biology?
Abstract: A significant proportion of T1 bladder tumors progress despite therapy due to clinical understaging in some and a more aggressive biology in others. Substaging T1 tumors by depth of submucosal invasion may identify some patients with more advanced tumors, but this alone will not after their outcome. Predicting T1 tumor progression, at a time when treatment will alter outcome, remains a major goal in the management of superficial bladder tumors.
