Article/Chapter Title: Staged implant-based breast reconstruction
Abstract: This chapter focuses primarily on the specific surgical techniques in implant-based breast reconstruction developed and modified by the senior author over many years, and in the course of more than 2,000 reconstructions. In a step-by-step approach we describe his algorithm from patient selection through patient positioning in the operating room to completion of the reconstruction. His approach and these techniques have allowed him to achieve consistently satisfying results for his patients. The primary potential complications are highlighted, and the major controversies in implant-based breast reconstruction are also briefly discussed. © Springer-Verlag Italia 2013.
