Article/Chapter Title: | Building resilience: A multifaceted support program for professional and support staff in a cancer center |
Abstract: | (from the chapter) It is well known that oncology settings are stressful and that staff are at risk for compassion fatigue and burnout. Therefore, staff support is essential to maintaining high quality patient care. There is also a need to concentrate on the growing importance of recruitment and retention of all oncology staff, and thus, closer attention to staff resilience is essential. This chapter describes the development of an institution-wide program designed to address this aspect of staff support and training. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2015 APA, all rights reserved). |
