Article Title: Thermal intermolecular hetero Diels-Alder cycloadditions of aldehydes and imines via o-quinone dimethides
Abstract: Highly regio- and stereodefined products are obtained from the cycloaddition of benzocyclobutenes with aldehydes and imines (see scheme). These high-yielding thermal reactions can be performed in the absence of catalysis - even at ambient temperature. Y = H, OMe; X = NR', O; TBS = tert- butyldimethylsilyl.
