Article Title: | The management of non-small cell lung cancer with oligometastases |
Abstract: | Multiple retrospective studies suggest that there may be a survival benefit to surgical resection of the primary site of a non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and of a single (oligometastatic) M1 site of disease. There is only one published nonrandomized trial addressing the effectiveness of surgical resection of the primary site and an M1 site of NSCLC, which did not show a benefit of adding surgery to systemic chemotherapy. Prospective trials are likely to be difficult to complete because of multiple factors; possible trial designs are suggested. © 2014 Elsevier Inc. |
