| Abstract: | This chapter examines issues concerning anxiety and adjustment disorders experienced by patients in palliative care. Several studies have found that patients with advanced cancer often have co-morbid psychiatric problems including a high frequency of adjustment disorders and anxiety. While the identification of these disorders can be done by oncology staff, it is advisable for palliative care practitioners to work with other professionals, such as psychiatrists and psychologists, to provide appropriate mental health care and enhance the quality of life of the patient and family. |
