Article Title: Our moving bodies tell stories, which speak of our experiences
Abstract: Nonverbal actions are powerful communicators of our experiences, both past and present. This article suggests new ways to observe, analyze, and reflect about those nonverbal actions. The Ways of Seeing program uses principles of dance movement psychotherapy, the discipline of authentic movement, and Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) system for assessment, intervention, and educational programming for children and their families. This program has helped children with autism, PDD, communication and language delay, unspecified developmental delays, sensory integration disorder, ADHD, and difficulties associated with adoption, trauma, and parent--child attachment.
