Article Title: Kidney cancer: Clinical practice guidelines
Abstract: An estimated 35,710 new cases of kidney cancer will have been diagnosed in 2004, and more than 12,000 patients will have died of the disease in the United States. Renal cell carcinoma comprises 2% to 3% of all malignancies, with the highest incidence in the sixth decade of life. Smoking and obesity are among the risk factors for developing this disease, and tumor grade and stage are important for predicting patient outcomes after nephrectomy. These guidelines discuss evaluation, staging, treatment, and management after treatment. © Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
