Abstract: |
Tumor profiling, defined as the molecular characterization of a patient’s tumor, has gained widespread acceptance in the medical oncology community and is at the center of major research efforts. The overall objective of these efforts is a new classification of tumors based on predictive biomarkers that can define subsets of patients that are suited to specific treatments. Correlative studies between interventional oncology (IO) outcomes and tumor biomarkers are just emerging over the past 5 years. In this chapter, we review some examples of these studies in the context of four commonly treated tumors in IO. We discuss relevance to IO and highlight some important gaps in knowledge. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020. |
