Abstract: |
The technology and application of ultrasound guidance (USG) for central neuraxial blocks have progressed immensely since their initial use in the 1970s. Injection target inaccuracies and medical error have been well-documented in literature solely utilizing landmark-based approach for neuraxial blocks, when compared with USG utilization. Through point-of-care real-time visualization, USG offers enhanced safety to landmark-based approach neuraxial injections, not only for perioperative use but also for a wider variety of purposes, including acute and chronic pain [1-5]. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Alan Kaye, Mark Jones, Neal Rakesh, and Amitabh Gulati. |
