Article/Chapter Title: | Basics of digital pathology |
Abstract: | Pathology is a specialized field of medicine focused on the study of diseases. Pathologists work in clinical pathology laboratories alongside allied professionals, such as technologists, to conduct diagnostic testing for patients. Traditionally, laboratory testing and diagnostic work have relied on manual processes and the use of conventional microscopes for certain testing on patient specimens, such as histopathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, and microbiology. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.
