Article/Chapter Title: Fundamentals of the intelligent health system
Abstract: The rise of the Intelligent Health System is a continuous evolution and expansion of hospital intelligence focused on establishing a standardized and seamless continuum of care which improves patient outcomes and enhances patient care, safety, and satisfaction as patients transition through the many aspects of today’s healthcare process. The design of Intelligent Health System provides and manages care across all stages of the care process, from triage and emergencies, diagnostics, and specific treatment procedures, including surgeries, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, in-patient care in the hospital setting, and follow-up or post-treatment care in the ambulatory setting at regional locations or physician offices. Long-term care is possible at home via telemedicine applications and remote monitoring. The overall patient outcome and experience is directly based on the specific processes which occur during the many phases of care which take place in multiple locations and are experienced over many visits or sessions. © 2024 selection and editorial matter, Paul H.
