Abstract: | Conventional adenomas and serrated polyps can occur both in a sporadic or syndromic setting while other distinctive hamartomatous polyps are most often a manifestation of a defined polyposis syndrome. Pathologists need to be aware of findings that should trigger an investigation to rule out an inherited polyposis syndrome. This has important clinical implications not just for the patient but for the entire family. In this chapter, we provide a concise and informative review of the major polyposis syndromes that occur in the GI tract. Similar to other chapters in the book, all key aspect are summarized in tables interspersed throughout the text. © 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. |
