Article/Chapter Title: Sentinel lymph node mapping for endometrial cancer
Abstract: Sentinel node mapping with cervical injection of dye in apparent uterine-confined endometrial cancer is currently a standard of care in many practices in the United States. The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) sentinel lymph node (SLN) algorithm published in 2012 and included in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines since 2014 is a validated surgical approach and can be used as a checklist to ensure standardization and reduce the false-negative rate of mapping. The increased adoption of minimally invasive surgery with near infrared imaging technology and injection of indocyanine green (ICG) dye into the cervix improved the SLN detection rates, and this has become a common surgical approach in many practices worldwide. © 2018 Elsevier Inc.
