Abstract: |
Although use of the single-session group is increasing, specific research remains minimal. Since traditional models of group work do not seem to adequately conceptualize these groups, the intent of this paper is to present a beginning handbook for the single-session worker. The single-session group will be examined as it both follows and departs from general group work theory. Explored will be the ramifications of these departures for framework, group structure, process, phasic development, goals and worker's role. Alternate formats will be discussed and recommendations for practice outlined. Focus is the use of these groups in an acute-care hospital specialized in the treatment of cancer patients. © 1985 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. |
