Title: The aged microenvironment of melanoma feeds escape from targeted therapy
Abstract: Alicea and colleagues demonstrate that aged fibroblasts secrete lipids into the tumor microenviroment, allowing for nutrient exchange with melanoma cells. This supportive function of fibroblasts results in increased resistance to BRAF/MEKi therapy in the context of an aged microenvironment, providing crucial mechanistic insight into age-related drug resistance. © 2020 American Association for Cancer Research.
