Article Title: Induction of female breeding characteristics by ovarian tissue implants in androgenic gland ablated male freshwater prawns Macrobrachium rosenbergii (de Man) (Decapoda, Palaemonidae)
Abstract: Implantation of ovarian tissue into androgenic gland ablated male prawns, Macrobrachium rosenbergii (de Man) induced the development of ovigerous and ovipositing setae and brood chambers, suggesting that in females, these secondary sexual characteristics are induced by the ovary. This model system has potential for the study of morphological changes associated with breeding in the Decapoda. © 1987 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
