Abstract: |
Obstructive nephropathy is common in patients with cancer and can present with acute kidney injury or insidious development of chronic kidney disease. Unlike benign causes of urinary tract obstruction, malignant urinary obstruction poses several unique clinical challenges. The benefits of urinary diversion procedures should be balanced against the substantial risks of stent failure, infection and high readmission rate in cancer patients. Management of malignant urinary obstruction requires a multidisciplinary team approach and should take into consideration patient’s quality of life. © 2020 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. |
