Article Title: Supportive activities requested by survivors of cancer
Abstract: Conducted a needs assessment survey among 200 former patients who had been treated for diverse types of cancer to develop a support program for cancer survivors. 45% of Ss were aged 40-60 yrs. Ss reported the greatest level of concern about their (1) general physical health and recurrence of the disease, (2) ability to plan for the future, (3) finances, and (4) general frame of mind. Resources that Ss reported using included family, friends, and hospital professional staff at all levels. 32% of Ss had received no help or information from any source. Results indicate that former cancer patients desire and need additional services and their projected use of such services is high. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
