Article Title: | Aplastic anemia: Focus on treatment with anti-thymocyte globulin |
Abstract: | Severe aplastic anemia 8SAA) is a life-threatening disease. In most cases, the etiology cannot be determined at the time of diagnosis. The exact pathogenesis of the disorder continues to be investigated, although current evidence suggests an autoimmune process. Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) continues to be the primary treatment for patients who meet the criteria. For those patients who are not candidates for bone marrow transplantation, ATG therapy has become the alternate choice. |
