Article Title: Peritoneal sarcoidosis and elevated CA 125
Abstract: Although CA 125 is generally considered a serum marker of malignant tumors, it may be elevated in conditions characterized by peritoneal inflammation. We report a patient with known pulmonary sarcoidosis who presented with an adnexal mass and an elevated CA 125. At laparotomy, she was found to have miliary peritoneal disease simulating the appearance of metastatic cancer. Microscopic examination revealed a benign ovarian cyst and diffuse granulomatous disease similar to that present in the lung. © 1991 by The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
