Article Title: A positive impact on patient care practices: Roles for the perioperative nurse in conducting surveillance of surgical site infections
Abstract: Surgeons, operating room (OR) nurses, and other OR personnel can play a key role in preventing surgical site infections (SSIs). Understanding and identifying risk factors that predispose patients to acquiring SSIs and multidisciplinary cooperation greatly enhance surveillance of SSIs and can often prevent their occurrence.
