Article Title: Cryptococcosis in patients with neoplastic disease
Abstract: Cryptococcus neoformans can cause disseminated disease in patients with impaired T-lymphocyte function, such as those receiving therapy for certain hematologic neoplasms. The serum cryptococcoal antigen assay is a useful aid to early diagnosis. Treatment with amphotericin B and flucytosine is recommended for disseminated disease. Fluconazole is probably useful to prevent relapse after initial therapy.
