Article/Chapter Title: Psychosocial research and practice with adult children of cancer patients
Abstract: (from the chapter) This chapter first reviews the literature on emotional distress and posttraumatic stress responses to parental cancer. We refer the reader to Part IV of this book for information on emotional responses to testing for genetic susceptibility to cancer. Second, the challenges associated with caring for a parent with cancer are discussed. Third, research on coping efforts and personal growth related to parental cancer is reviewed. Finally, directions for future research and implications for clinical practice are presented. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2011 APA, all rights reserved).
