Abstract: This article aims to review current concepts in the management of patients with rectal cancer, including the most common surgical techniques, anatomic landmarks with MR imaging correlation, and the role of each imaging modality in local staging, focusing on MR imaging technique and its importance in primary staging, restaging, and local recurrence. © 2018 Elsevier Inc.
